The AcerConceptD 7 (Ezel) is made for a specific group of users – experts that enjoy lots of graphical oomph. This powerful machine features the most recent Nvidia’s RTX graphical technology. One thing that you have to understand is that the high graphics appeal more to creatives than gamers. If you belong in the latter category, you are better off with a gaming laptop.
From a general point of view, the Acer ConceptD resembles its predecessor. Both have a 15.6-inch display, and the aluminum casing looks almost the same. However, upon further inspection, you will realize some key differences, which are mostly upgrades. For instance, concept 7 features a twin-hinge mechanism that enables the user to adjust the screen in various positions. The 4K display of this new model is touch-sensitive.
Another feature that makes this laptop ideal for professional creatives in the presence of a pressure-sensitive Wacom stylus. You can adjust the screen to cover the keyboard and act as a digital drawing board when showing illustrations. This is what Acer and its users refer to as the Ezel mode.
This mode works best when the laptop is placed on a desk. If you are, however, using it at home, or don’t want to place the AcerConceptD on your thighs, you can slide the screen all the way forward till it turns into a tablet. You can, therefore, enjoy more freedom of movement and convenience.
Unlike other laptops that you have to physically rotate when showing contents on the screen to other people when in Ezel mode, you can reverse the screen.
This new feature can come off as a bit complicated to new users. However, with time, you will adjust to using the stylus and realize how comfortable and relaxing working with the Acer ConceptD 7 is. The 4K IPS display is amazing. But there are a couple of things that drew my attention. First, this machine doesn’t support the DCI-3 standard commonly used in editing videos. Considering that this laptop has a 4K display, Acer should have included this feature.
The other issue is that periodically, the colors of the 4K display looked oversaturated. This, however, shouldn’t be a cause for alarm to graphic designers or video editors since this laptop supports Adobe RGB and sRGB color standards 100%
Though useful, the adjustable Ezel display may not suit most individuals. Also, this laptop weighs more than the likes of the MacBook Pro (16-inches). But, for graphic designers who appreciate quality graphics, exceptional performance, and impressive 4K display, the Acer ConceptD 7 is a great choice for office and home use.
